In February 2010 I was laid off from my job due to downsizing. I sent a tweet out on Twitter and asked who else was unemployed in New Jersey. The response was astounding! I felt an obligation to do something to help the NJ Unemployed community. I began holding events in NJ in order to bring unemployed individuals together to share stories, experiences and struggles.
After starting this group, PARADE magazine selected me as 1 in 5 in the US they selected to chronicle their job search. I had been using social media as one of many means to try and secure employment. This also landed me a segment on CBS’s “The Early Show”.
The purpose of this group is to let the unemployed New Jerseyans know that they are not alone. We are all in this together!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I hope to see you at an upcoming event. We are always looking for new venues to host events, event sponsors and guest speakers.
This group is open to anyone.
Thank you and best wishes in your job search!
